Why should the hydrogen sulfide compressor be made of anticorrosive materials?
1. Hydrogen sulfide itself has corrosive characteristics. When dissolved in water, it will form an acidic medium, corrode ordinary metals through electrochemical action, and accelerate the dissolution process on the surface of metal matrix continuously. Ordinary carbon steel and other materials are prone to problems such as wall thickness thinning and perforation failure, so it is necessary to use anticorrosive materials to resist corrosion.
2. Hydrogen sulfide will cause hydrogen-induced brittle fracture, hydrogen atoms will penetrate into the metal and accumulate at grain boundaries and inclusions, which will induce hydrogen bubbling and hydrogen-induced cracking. When there is residual stress in the equipment, it will also trigger sulfide stress corrosion cracking. Ordinary materials are difficult to resist this kind of damage, and special anti-corrosion materials are needed to reduce the risk of cracking.
3. In industrial scenes, hydrogen sulfide is often accompanied by high temperature and high pressure working conditions, and may also coexist with other corrosive media, which will accelerate the corrosion rate of ordinary materials. Anti-corrosion materials suitable for working conditions can stably withstand complex environmental changes, help prolong the service life of equipment and ensure stable operation.
